Dreamweaver Hosting. How to publish when you have built a site using Dreamweaver.
For this we have used Macromedia Dreamweaver 8. There are plenty of Dreamweaver versions, but basically they are pretty similar. You can always follow the online help in your version of Dreamweaver by clicking the Help menu.
- Click the “Site” Menu, choose “Manage Sites”.
- When the window opens click on the “New” Button and choose “Site”. Then a new window will open.
- You will find a “Name” box, and enter the name of your website. This can be anything you want, such as but if your admin lots of sites it might be an idea to put in your domain.
- Enter the full URL of your website in the URL box, for example - http://www.yourdomain.co.uk
- Click the “Next” button. Now if your site requires MySQL and PHP, tick the “Use Server Technology” option and choose the technology type.
- If you are building a static html web pages then you do not need to use server technologies. Click the “Next” Button.
- On the next screen you can choose “Edit local copies then upload to server”. Click the “Next” button.

Connection type: FTP
Hostname: ftp.yourdomainname.co.uk
Folder: httpdocs
FTP Login: Your FTP username
FTP Password: Your FTP Password
Tick the Save Box
Goto the “Advanced” tab and check the “Passive Mode” option
Click the “Next” button. - You can now choose whether to use Dreamweaver’s checkin and checkout feature. We would advise not using this.
