We recently renamed and revamped our Linux Cheap Hosting Packages. In some instances more disc space and importantly more data transfer (aka:bandwidth).
Personal => Plesk Starter
Soho => Plesk Plus
Enterprise => Plesk Pro
Corporate => Plesk Ultimate
“Enterprise” and “Corporate” Plans will eventually be reborn for Very Low Contention N+1 Business Solutions being introduced in 2010.
Plesk Plus, Pro and Ultimate also become “Multidomain” with the ability to host multiple websites:
Plesk Starter:
==========
Storage: 750MB
Transfer: 20GB
Number of Sites: 1
Plesk Plus:
========
Storage: 2000MB
Transfer: 50GB
Number of Sites: 3
Plesk Pro:
======
Storage: 3000MB
Transfer: 100GB
Number of Sites: 5
Plesk Ultimate:
===========
Storage: 5000GB
Transfer: 200GB
Number of Sites: 10
So the Plesk Ultimate also effectively replaces our old 10 Domain “Plesk Reseller Light.”
The reasons for the changes are:
1. Distinguish Plesk Hosting from Cpanel Hosting, which we will be offering as an alternative for new customers from January 2010 (existing customers can switch now).
2. Distinguish between Plesk Linux and Plesk Windows Hosting (the latter “coming soon” as they say).
3. Reflect changes in competition.
4. Some customers were hitting limits on the previous “generous” limits and we wanted to guarantee that no customer would ever get an overage bill.
5. Confuse everyone (including ourselves!).
Also we so many “unlimited” offers around from other web hosts please read the small print. Since most web sites are now dynamically power using PHP scripting and MySQL, CPU utilisation and RAM (memory) have become much more important than disc space and “bandwidth”. Whilst a host may offer “unlimited” hosting, they will usually have clauses about “resource utilisation.” Often a Web Host will suspend an account if a site uses more than 5% of a servers resources. So basically “unlimited” plans are unlimited, provided they don’t use more than their fair share of resources!
So there are other reasons for buying the bigger plan, even if you don’t require all the disc space and bandwidth. Plesk Pro and Ultimate have much lower contention. ie: less sites sharing the same servers, and therefore more resources and connections are allocated.
