Archive for the “Domain Parking” Category

“Type-in traffic” describes visitors landing arriving at a particular web site by entering a word or phrases in their web browsers navigation bar just adding .com or increasingly a co.uk (any top level extension).

This is rather than following a hyperlink from another website or for example by searching for a link using a search engine.

Domainers register domains based on popular generic terms (and sometimes trademarked and copyrighted terms) in order to earn income from “type in traffic.”

Quite often the target website will have a lot of PPC (pay per click) links from advertises targetted towards the domain name, and the domainer will get paid if the visitor clicks through on any of the links.

.com domains have been the most popular domains to use for this because until recently if a visitor omitted the domain extension in the navigation bar, most browsers would automatically add this gTLD.

Ans. Domain Parking put simply, is the concept of purchasing domain names without creating a web site for them. Here the domain registrar (such as Weycrest) reserves the name for you and simply creates a one page holder web site for you.

Why would you want to park a domain name?

1. Future Website Project- You have a great idea for a domain names but haven’t got round to creating a web site. Since good domain names are being snapped up like crazy, it’s often a good idea to purchase them as soon as you can (in any case domains compared to other web hosting, web design and other marketing expenses domain names are relatively inexpensive).

2. Unfinished Website - You are working on a website, but don’t want the general public to see the unfinished result.

3. Email Hosting - You acquired the domain name, purely to use for email purposes only and have no intention of building a website for it.

4. Domain Name Speculation -You have a good idea for a domain which you hope to “sell” for a profit later on.

5. Domain Name Monetization -With the advent of Pay Per Click (PPC) people buy web domain names, purely to park and earn money from passing “click thru” traffic.

This happens when people type (or mistype) domains into the navigation bar of their browser. Some search terms pay a lot of money per click.

For example credit card and web hosting related search terms can pay a lot of money per click. In some cases you can recoup the cost of the domain name registration very quickly, as the cost of domains is low relative to PPC rates.
